Each year as I look for the right Father’s Day cards to send to my Dad on Father’s Day, I recall the many reasons I love him so much. I honestly don’t know how he tolerated some the things his nine darling children did. I think his two pet peeves, at least with me, were using his razor without telling him and drinking milk from his favorite beer glass. I honestly had no idea how annoying I was until I had children. Father’s Day cards are perfect because it gives us a reason to celebrate our fathers and to let them know how much we love them.
According to the National Retail Federation more than 70 percent of Americans plan to celebrate or acknowledge Father’s Day. It is the fourth largest card sending occasion with early 95 million cards expected to be given this year just in the United States…and that doesn’t include e-cards.
This year I am going to send photo Father’s Day cards; I only have to decide which photo to send. I could be nostalgic and find an old black and white when we were all still young and he had hair or maybe something from the present with all of his children and grandchildren. Then again I could send a photo e-card that way I could send him one a day for a week and every time he opens his e-mail he will be surprised to see which photo I dug up. I am going to caption each e-card with this wise quote: “A father is a guy who has snapshots in his wallet where his money used to be.”

Paullete, Paullete, Paullete….. Here i was enjoying your blog when i came across a very mischievous admission on your part. Your poor dad who by all accounts was a great man was living his life with a daughter who used his razor and drank out of his beer glass. Jaws were dropped and legs gave out. I found myself collapsed on the floor in shock. Shock from what my eyes had just read and sent to my brain for processing which in turn caused my brain to shut down my body. This poor poor man must have felt that nothing was sacred in his house. A mans razor and his beer glass should only be handled by the man himself. Would one sit on a kings throne while he is out fighting for the kingdom? Would one steer a ship using that circly thing that looks like a wooden gear while the captain is away tending to other ship matters? NAY i say. NAY. Such acts should be looked upon as Treason and handled appropriately. Nice card though. I like the tie.
This was one of the nicest blogs I’ve read-your Dad must be a very special man to have raised such a thoughtful daughter. I think I will take your idea and send photo e-cards in the week leading up to Father’s Day
Gotta love those old B&W photos. For me anyway the memories and emotions that they stir up are more intense than those conjured up by more recent photos. Sounds like a plan to use one of those “back in the day” pictures for a Father’s Day Photo Card.
I love old photos and there are a few faves of me and my dad from my childhood. Maybe next year I’ll borrow your idea, too… Maybe “Top Ten Reasons Dad Deserves a Medal” with ten really funny memories from the old days?
