I love a good party. Getting together with friends and family, laughing, eating food you don’t usually let yourself eat, (like wings!), music and games. But I really light up when I get Halloween party invitations.
I’ve never lost my love of Halloween. I enjoy everything about it, from coming up with costumes for me and the kids, buying (and eating) candy, putting up scary decorations, all of it. And there’s nothing more fun than a costume party for the whole family.
Last year I started sending out Halloween cards. They had photos of the kids in costume and everybody loved them. This year I want to get the dog and some of my decorations in the shot. Maybe he could dress as a werewolf. I’m just not sure I can get him to stand up, though.
A couple things have changed from when I was a young sprout. There’s not so much door to door trick or treating anymore. That’s too bad. And the candy bars were so much bigger than they are now. Of course it’s better to eat less candy, but health food has never been a part of my Halloween. So I just eat 3 or 4 of these little bars and I’m happy. Until the day after, when it’s time to start my diet for Thanksgiving, and that wonderful feast. A man’s got to have goals in life.

I love all things Halloween. We really decorate our house and my kids start deciding what they will dress as in June… Although I never thrown a Halloween party, I would love to.. and I would definitely use a photo invitation… will be considering it for next year!
More than just a couple of things have changed since I was a youngster. For instance we didn’t need to have our parents drive us around on Halloween. We would leave the house as early as possible and wouldn’t go home until it got dark. We were on our own – but then the world seemed to be a much safer place back then. I feel so sorry for the kids today.
OMG! I love Halloween! And not that I need an excuse to celebrate, but my son’s birthday is October 25, so we now get to have a Halloween/Birthday party for him every year! Just got a great photo of him in a pumpkin patch for this year’s photo invitations (he’s 2 years old). Can’t wait to send them out.
I find sending out photo cards really adds to the excitement and ofter helps to gte people in the mood. Imagine if the card above didn’t have a picture? It would not be as nearly as effective.
I love Halloween! Fall is my favorite time of year and my birthday is right around Halloween so growing up it was always the theme of my parties. Sending out Halloween photo cards is such a fun and original idea.
When I was a kid I lived in a cold part of the country – so cold that my mom would make me wear a coat over my costume when I went trick-or-treating. If you want to crush your child’s excitement about their cool costume, just make her cover it with a bulky winter coat! I still love Halloween though!
I find it funny when people tell me to “Grow Up” when it comes to Halloween. I’m the type to embrace my inner child and let it loose with the parties and festivities on Octobe 31st. Just because we get older doesn’t mean we should forget about having good times with good friends.
