The Long Awaited Photo Birth Announcements

by Emma W.R. on September 7, 2011

Photo birth announcements are so much fun to get, but the one I got from my niece was the best I ever received. Patrick has finally arrived in style with a beautiful baby photo. My niece has had a few years of really hard luck, but after all the rain; Patrick is her pot of gold at the end of the rainbow.

Baby Boy Birth Announcements

My niece, Melissa, didn’t feel her family was complete, although she has a daughter, Grace, who turned 9 this year. With many years of struggling behind, Melissa and her husband, Michael, were able to purchase a home three years ago and felt it was time to expand their family. With two people working, paying a mortgage, student and car loans, that doesn’t leave a lot of extra money so it was important for them to plan the baby’s arrival. Two years ago they were ecstatic to learn that they would be expecting a boy in July. Unfortunately, she was unable to carry the baby to term because his heart had not developed. The family was devastated and after a second miscarriage they were sure they would have only one child.

Sometimes when you least expect it, prayers are answered and so Melissa was once again pregnant. The baby was healthy and growing well and then six months in to the pregnancy, she had to go on bed rest at the hospital. She went in the hospital in June and Patrick was born on her 40th birthday, July 17. He was seven weeks early, but weighed 5lbs. 4 oz.! Did he look like a preemie? No way! What a cute little bundle he made, but he had to stay two weeks in the hospital. What joy when he came home from the hospital, but where is his photo birth announcement? Well, he came home from the hospital with a monitor for his breathing (who knew that most preemies need this until the original due date?) and Melissa and Michael decided to wait until after his due date.

Who do you know that has sent out more awaited photo birth announcements than my niece? We received this precious photo in the mail today and here he is 2 months old, off his monitor and a healthy, happy baby boy weighing in at a whopping 10 pounds. Doesn’t get much better!

It is always nice to receive a birth announcement in the mail from proud parents sharing their joy. Who wouldn’t smile at a brand new baby?

My son was born 13 weeks early weighing 2 lbs 5 oz. He spent 9 weeks in the NICU and also came home on oxygen and a monitor. I never did send out birth announcements because I felt like his birth was old news by the time all the monitors and tubes were gone 6 months later. However, you can be darn sure his invitations to his first birthday party are going to have a much awaited picture on them!
