Happy 2012! Whether you go out partying or fall asleep before midnight, New Year’s is naturally the perfect time for new beginnings. And I was lucky enough to begin the new year at the beach! My husband and I celebrated New Year’s Eve at a friend’s vacation house in Long Beach Island, New Jersey. Friends, kids, food and drinks, and of course Dick Clark’s New Year’s TV broadcast combined for a fabulous evening.
After a bit of sleep, I took a walk on the beach the next morning. The weather was unseasonably warm and made for an incredible outing. Sun, waves, a gentle breeze…what a fantastic way to start the new year.
I was so inspired and in awe of this gorgeous day at the beach that I snapped a few photos. I had no intention of sending New Year’s cards (c’mon, I had finally managed to send out my photo Christmas cards not too long ago!), but I thought it would be cute to send photo e-cards to friends and family. Even though some people were jealous I was down at the Jersey shore, everyone appreciated hearing from me via the e-card. It felt good to be in touch with the important people in my life on the very first day of the year.
Can’t believe another year has come and gone, but this New Year’s Day was certainly a memorable one. Here’s to happiness, fun times, and more beautiful photos in 2012!

That sounds really nice. There is something just so calming about the ocean. I hope your year is as calm and peaceful as the shore was that morning.
Yes, I love the Jersey Shore, I agree with Ariel the ocean seems to bring peace and calm into my perspective. I often fish, swim, crab and clam down the shore. That reminds me of the time I spent Christmas Day at the beach in Trinidad, I called my Mom to tell it’s 85 degrees and sunny and to wish her a Merry Christmas, it was an awesome Christmas. Can’t wait for Spring and Summer.
I love the ocean. It is so peaceful. What a great place to reflect on the past and upcoming year. It’s always nice to receive another card after the Christmas holiday is over.
