As soon as my daughter said “Yes” she started planning the wedding she has been dreaming of since she was a little girl. She already had her color scheme in mind, who would be in the wedding, where she wanted to get married and where she wanted to honeymoon. She also always knew she wanted a June wedding. But so does every other bride in this world. So not only would she be competing with other weddings in June but also with graduations, communions, Father Day celebrations and summer vacations. This called for Save the Date Cards.
Whoever came up with Save the Date Cards for Weddings was an absolute genius. I don’t know what I would do if the people my daughter invited couldn’t make it to her wedding because of a previous engagement. So 6 months before the wedding – she got engaged on Christmas – she sent Save the Date Cards. She used a picture of her and her fiancé wearing silver (he) and purple (she) – the colors she always wanted for her wedding – for the front of the card. They gave the briefest of details since the only definite thing was the date. The main thing is these cards will insure that her guests do not accept any other invitations for that date.
And the beauty of Save the Date Cards is that they aren’t only for weddings. I’m thinking about using them for our annual family reunion in August. Now I just have to figure what picture I will use.
